Impressions of the unveiling in words...

"It was a privilege to be a part of such an occasion and to meet and talk to so many veterans and their families. You should all feel extremely proud of your achievement in being able to place the plaque as such a constant reminder of the FEPOWs... We have always remembered the "forgotten army" in the British Red Cross, especially through our being custodians of one of the Changi quilts, which takes pride of place in our museums and archives department."

Gordon Low, Trustee
British Red Cross

"It was a splendid occasion, dignified, tinged with great sadness for some and a triumph of remembrance and how important this is."

Prof Helen Carty
High Sheriff of Merseyside

"I wish to thank you and your friends and associates for inviting me to attend the wonderful memorial event at Liverpool Pier Head on Saturday. It was a lovely service beautifully arranged and carried out with moving and poignant dignity by all concerned. It was wonderful to see the schoolchildren participating so well. It was nice to meet so many of those quietly heroic people of almost seventy years ago."
