Southampton Repatriation Memorial

Service of Dedication, Sunday 27 October 2013

Service at 2pm, Church of St Michael the Archangel, Bugle Street, Southampton. This is the oldest church in Southampton, founded in 1070 and situated at the heart of the Old Town.

REGISTRATION – space in church is limited and filling up fast. You MUST REGISTER to attend the service of Dedication or the Thai meal.

CAR PARKING – no parking is allowed on the square outside the church. Limited metered parking locally. The nearest public parking is Mayflower Park (and it’s cheap!), adjacent to the Red Funnel Isle of Wight ferry terminal on A33 Town Quay. Cross A33 and walk up Bugle Street short distance to St Michael’s church.

WALK PAST – following the service weather permitting we hope to have a formal “Walk Past” procession to the memorial, led by veterans, internees and civic dignitaries. Those with mobility problems may require assistance. Due to the narrow roads and large numbers expected, parking restrictions will be in place on French Street, adjacent to the Town Quay Park, during the afternoon.

REFRESHMENTS – will be served afterwards, details to be given on the day.

THAI MEAL – to round off the weekend there will be a three-course meal at the Kutis Royal Thai Pier Restaurant. Cost: £25 per head (does not include drinks). To book fill in the form below

Some of the survivors of Palembang were repatriated through Southampton along with FEPOW.
